Philanthropy
SanDisk believes it is important share our resources with
notable charitable organizations that do important work in our
communities. We work with and support a wide range of organizations
to support the continued health, education and welfare of our
children, and to meet critical community needs where we have a
significant presence globally. When disaster strikes, we deploy
volunteers, financial support and product donations to support
response, relief, and recovery efforts.
Here are a few examples of our philanthropy work:
- Since 2003, the SanDisk Foundation has awarded more than 650
grants totaling $12 million to charitable organizations and
programs worldwide.
- In the U.S., SanDisk runs its Employee Gift/Volunteer Hours
Match Program to encourage employee giving. Under this program,
employees secure dollar-for-dollar matches from SanDisk based on
financial and/or volunteer contributions they make to eligible
non-profit organizations. U.S. employees used the matching program
to double their contributions to the Red Cross and other agencies
for Japan earthquake/tsunami relief.
- In Shanghai, employees have made cash donations to the Shanghai
Charity Fund for Zhou-Qu flood and landslide relief efforts, and to
support earthquake relief in Yu-Shu, in China's Sichuan Province.
Our education support program provided merit-based scholarships to
60 students in two local schools, and will be expanding in the
coming years. Additionally, local employees made cash donations for
Japan earthquake/tsunami relief through the Japan and International
Red Crosses.
- SanDisk Taiwan employees support the Boyo Social Welfare
Foundation, which provides after-school programs for children in
disadvantaged areas. SanDisk donated significant funds to Give2Asia
to help survivors of the deadliest typhoon in Taiwan's recorded
history. Employees are making quarterly cash donations via the EDEN
Social Welfare Foundation for child care and young student support,
and employee donations were given to the Garden of Hope Foundation,
which empower girls and women and works to end sexual abuse, sexual
exploitation and domestic violence.
